Regulations for the transport cost repayment
According to the latest health care reformation the insurance companies are no longer allowed to pay the transport cost of ambulant treatment, apart from a few exceptions. The following are except from this regulation:
- Cancer patients in the case of radiotherapy or chemotherapy
- Dialysis patients
- Patients who are, according to their I.D. for severely disabled, extraordinarily hampered
- Blind patients
- Patients in need of special help
Even in these cases the health insurance company first has to approve the transports. The patient's share of the cost may not be higher than 10% with a minimum of 5 Euros and a maximum of 10 Euros per ride.
The above list is not closed. Apart from that doctors are able to prescribe a transport cost repayment in the case of a disease which is not covered by the above list but comparable in it's severity.
